Shirley Hines Memorial Scholarship

Shirley Hines Memorial Scholarship

Note: The deadline is December 31, 2017
This scholarship was established in 2008 in memory of Shirley Hines who was born in Kingston, Jamaica and attended Wolmers High School for girls. Shirley elected to become a registered nurse and received her training in England. After her training, she relocated to New York where she worked in her chosen profession both in various hospitals and private duty. After a few years in New York, Shirley went to live in Miami where again she worked in various hospitals and ended up relocating to Casselberry, Florida where she worked for the State of Florida until she could no longer perform her duties because of her illness. Shirley was a very courageous person with a lot of faith. She never asked “why me” but “why not me”. She was a shining example to those who suffer ill health and pain.

The deadline is December 31, 2017. All applications must be postmarked by this date.

Up to $1000 will be awarded depending on the number of applicants and monies available. Scholarships will be awarded in the middle of August.
